CHARLOTTE, NC–YUGENN, a modern Japanese restaurant and omakase experience, has opened at 255 W. Bland St., under The Paces Apartments in South End.

YUGENN is the latest venture from sisters Lisa and Linda Nguyen. The Nguyen sisters are the duo behind Sake Express, a well-established Gastonia teppanyaki and sushi restaurant .

Omakase is a Japanese term that translates to “I’ll leave it up to you”— which means the chef selects and prepares each course in the meal, rather than customer ordering from a menu. According to a press release, the omakase experience will be a focal point of YUGENN's menu and will be served to a limited number of reserved seats nightly, Guests can also order from a full sushi and cocktail menu, as well as hot dishes such as chashu miso carbonara and pho-brined drumstick lollipops.

According to its web site, YUGENN promises a unique dining experience: “From cutting-edge sushi to unexpected Modern Asian-inspired creations, this is where culinary artistry meets cocktail culture.”
