CHARLOTTE, NC—Ann Gonzales, president of the Carolinas Asian American Chamber of Commerce, was recognized as an “Economic Empowerment/Mobility Established Leader” at WFAE’s EQUALibrium Awards Gala on June 5, 2025.

The awards recognize Charlotte-area residents and organizations that have made outstanding contributions in advancing issues of equity within the community.

“I share this award with those communities that I serve, especially those whose voices are often overlooked. This award is not just for me, but for every person working tirelessly to create a more inclusive, equitable world,” said Gonzales in her acceptance remarks. “Let’s keep showing up for one another, because when we lift each other up, we all rise.”

More than 70 nominations were received across seven categories. WFAE is one of the country’s leading public radio stations, reaching over 200,000 listeners each week with a broad range of award-winning national, international and regional news.
